To Do: Jean Paul Gautier // The Freak Show
If you are stuck in London at the end of July and August - don’t panic! I’ve found a way for you to have some extremely magical fun whilst in town.
The genius designer Jean Paul Gautier, in collaboration with actors, scriptwriters and director Tonie Marshall, are bringing The Freak Show to London from the 23rd of July to the 2nd of August 2019. The show is a mix of fashion, choreographed dancing, excess and magic. Half show, half catwalk. The event is held at Southbank Centre in London. Everything you need to know about it is here.
The project is all choreographed by Marion Motin, who worked with the likes of Madonna and recently received VMA-nominated video for Dua Lipa‘s IDGAF.
The show shows some of the most iconic creations ever made by Jean Paul Gautier, whilst debuting some new designs. Actors, dancers and circus artists take to the stage to play outlandish, passionate, larger-than-life, sexy, sassy creatures.
All of the designs are inspired by Gaultier’s deepest memories; starting from his childhood, to his early career stages, his great catwalks, to the crazy nights he lived in Paris and London. Every detail of this experience is designed to pay tribute to the many people that have influenced the designer through out his years, including film directors like Luc Besson, Madonna and Angelin Preljocaj.
