Trend Watching: SS15 Denim Rules
Denim is the SS15 trend. Yes, you might think it’s banal, but designers seem to never give-up on denim. They all tried to put their own stamp on this season’s favorite fabric. Whether the beloved blue jeans has been cuffed, cropped, tailored, dyed or embellished, we can never get enough. This season is all about denim shirts, jackets, but also dresses, overalls, tunics, skirts and shoes. Chloé proposed double denim, skirt and shirt- the typical Alexa Chung style- but not everyone will want to wear denim from head-to-toe. No worries, there is something for all. You can embrace the shirt dress look, as soon at MM6 Maison Margiela, or a denim overall, either a sexier version as shown by Sonia Rykielor a more factory worker look as seen on Stella McCartney’s runway. Pump it up with a pair of wedges or a pair of flat gladiator sandals.
Still not your type? Try the bootcut jeans for a true 70’s flare, or the girlfriend jeans (the difference between these and the boyfriend jeans is still not clear to me, but it’s how they like to call it now). You can also modify your denim jacket and rip off some parts, for example, cut the sleeves and give it a vintage touch. If still not happy, add some patches to customize it at your own taste. To get some ideas, look how Burberryand Etrodesigned theirs!
