Trend To Watch: AW16 White Trainers
Ever since the 1960s, Stan Smiths have been an iconic pair of shoes, however, when in 2010 Phoebe Philo, Creative Director at Céline, exited her catwalk show with a pair of Stan Smiths, sneakers in fashion were back in the spot light. Everyone from Valentino to Chanel with its tweed trainers and Dior with its haute couture sneakers followed and settled the trend in the industry. For once, I am thankful with designers, they are finally giving a rest to our feet. However, combining a pair of white sneakers is never easy as it seems. Everyone from fashion editors to tastemakers have learnt to match their high fashion outfits with white trainers, and let’s say it, the result (in most cases) has been a thumb up. So, if you want to put your feet on this trend, the trick is to go for a clean and simple pair of white trainers with a hint of teenage nostalgia. Good note: these shoes are totally affordable. Whatever your trainer tastes is, from Nike, to Stan Smiths or Reeboks, the price will not get over the £80.
How to wear them? Baggy jeans, wide leg trousers, simple white tops and grey over layers. But if you go crazy for sparkles and texture, a plain white pair of trainers will fit perfectly.
